Plaid

Over 30 years, Plaid have composed for orchestras, films, singular vocal talents such as Björk and even robots.

Biography:

Plaid are an English electronic music duo composed of Andy Turner and Ed Handley. Over 30 years, Plaid have composed for orchestras, films, singular vocal talents such as Björk and even robots. Including their latest record ‘Polymer’, they have now made ten albums, on top of their early output as The Black Dog with Ken Downie. After signing to Warp Records in 1993, they became known as a vital part of the ‘90s electronica generation. But their path has been a singular one: never chasing extreme complexity like Aphex Twin, or purely electronic abstraction like Autechre, they continued to incorporate soul, funk and classic songwriting values into their compositions, even as they innovated with synthesis and audiovisual experiments.
